Kumiko does its work on your Mac. Here is everything that leaves it, and why.

Updated

Stays on your Mac

Your layouts, saved workspaces, Resume snapshots, learned rules and habits, Focus routines and settings are stored on your Mac only. Kumiko never takes screenshots and never reads what is inside your windows.

When you ask the command bar something

What is sent depends on the engine you pick in Settings › AI:

  • On-device and No AI: nothing leaves your Mac.
  • Your own Claude key: the request goes straight from your Mac to Anthropic, under your own agreement with them.
  • Kumiko AI: the request goes to Kumiko's server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude and returns the plan. The request is not stored. The server keeps only a count of how many requests your licence made this month, under a one-way hash of the key, so the monthly limit works.

A request contains what you typed, the names of your open apps and their window titles. If you turn them on, it also contains the address of the front tab in each browser (with sign-in codes, tokens and other query parameters removed) and the titles of other open tabs. Both are optional and the second is off by default.

Your licence

Kumiko checks your licence key with Dodo Payments once a day. That check sends the key and an activation ID for this Mac, and the Mac's name you see in the account page.

Buying

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. They collect your email, billing details and payment method to take the payment, work out tax and send the receipt. Kumiko never sees your card.

This website

usekumiko.app has no analytics, no ads, no tracking cookies and no third-party scripts. The hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs for security. The launch counter asks Kumiko's server how many licences are left; it sends nothing about you.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing hello@jahvix.com. Kumiko is made by Jahvix in Ireland, and Irish and EU data protection law applies.
